Its proximity, just 70 kilometers away, to Mount Kilimanjaro has garnered it significant attention. Mount Meru has emerged as a favored "warm-up" trek for climbers preparing to conquer Kilimanjaro, often visible from the slopes of its more famous neighbor.

Day 01 :

Arusha to Mariakamba Hut

Duration: 5-7 hours of hiking

After an early breakfast in Arusha (altitude: 1400m), you'll be transported to Momella Gate in Arusha National Park. Porters will organize your gear while you complete registration. The hike begins promptly afterward.

The first day offers a scenic walking safari, with chances to spot various wildlife. An armed ranger ensures safety. Passing by Ngarenanyuki River and a stunning waterfall, you'll reach Miriakamba Hut (altitude: 2500m). Enjoy a hot dinner and sunset views before settling in for the night.

Day 02 :

Mariakamba Hut to Saddle Hut

Duration: 3-5 hours of hiking

Following breakfast, you'll commence your ascent along the steep trail atop the ridge of the saddle. Keep an eye out for various wildlife sightings along the way! Enjoy panoramic views of Mount Meru Crater and the Ash Tray along the trail. Upon reaching camp, you'll have the option to hike Little Mount Meru (altitude: 3820m) with your guide for additional acclimatization. An early dinner will be served to ensure you get ample rest before your midnight summit attempt. Aim to be asleep by 7:00 pm for optimal preparation.

Day 03 :

Saddle Hut to Summit to Arusha

Duration: 12-14 hours of hiking

Your guide will wake you up at 12:30 am to enjoy tea and biscuits before embarking on your summit attempt at 1:30 am. The trail begins with a steep ascent from Rhino Point (altitude: 3800m) to Cobra Point (altitude: 4350m). In the final hour of the hike, you'll navigate a rocky ridge between the crater and the inner cliffs of Meru. At sunrise, you'll reach the summit of Meru (altitude: 4565m), treated to breathtaking views of Mount Meru Ash Tray and Mount Kilimanjaro. Take in the scenery before descending to Momella Gate and returning to Arusha.

Outstanding Safari Guide and a Truly Memorable Experience with Godson We had the absolute pleasure of having Godson as our safari guide, and we couldn’t have asked for anyone better! Not only is he a highly professional guide who made sure we saw all the amazing wildlife up close, but he’s also an incredible person. Two of the most magical safari days! If you're looking for a safari guide in Tanzania, Godson is the man. He patiently answered thousands of our questions, knows everything about the physiology and habits of the animals in the park and unerring seemed to lead us always to the most amazing animal sightings. He also seems to have a magic presence with the animals, while they run from other trucks time after time they came right over to ours, for the most up close and personal encounters.

An unforgettable experience When we decided to do our Safari in Tanzania for the first time in our life, our travel agent told us that he wouldn’t had sold us the trip if there wasn’t Godson free from other tours. Luckly he was free and then we understood why our travel agent said that to us: even if he saw all the beauties of the savanna many many times I could see his eyes gleaming like ours when we encountered lions and other animals. 5* Tanzanian Safari Experience! Could not recommend doing the Wildlife Safari Tour enough! As a female solo traveller, I was understandably nervous going abroad alone for the first time but Godson put me right at ease and we had the most incredible time.
